It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jean Arkell on February 11, 2013. Jean lived in Edmonton for 88 years. She will be greatly missed by family in Vancouver and Ontario (sister Dorothy McClary, nieces; Marg (Don) Redmond and Pat (Phil) White, great nieces (Alexis, Norah and Christine), a great nephew (Mark) and her many friends. Jean spent 35 years working with Revenue Canada, retiring in 1979. She supported the Edmonton Symphony and the Citadel Theatre, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and sponsored children overseas via Plan Canada. Jean enjoyed reading, art, music, travel, history, needlework, politics and a lively debate. Thank you to The Boardwalk Retirement Community for your friendship, support and care. You made a home for Jean which was greatly appreciated. No service at Jean’s request. Her ashes will be laid to rest with family at Farnham Cemetery in Arkell, Ontario. In her honor enjoy a meal with friends or family and raise a glass of something special in a toast to a wonderful woman.
