Woong-Ja Yoo
May 26, 1940 - July 13, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Woong Ja Yoo. She died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Wednesday, July 13, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Pilchin Yoo for 52 years, and cherished mother to Ted (Sandy), Tammy (Warren), and Carolyn (Drew). She is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, and her six precious grandchildren, Courtney and Makai, Ethan and Taylor, Raleigh and Hugh.
She was born in South Korea, and immigrated to Canada in 1967, where she began a 35 year career in nursing. She was very highly regarded by all that had the privilege to work with her. She made many lifelong friends that she continued to meet with on a regular basis right up until last month.
She led a very active life. She loved to golf, curl, downhill and cross country ski. She was an avid traveller and travelled around the world throughout her life. In the last two years of her life she visited Spain, Portugal, Central America, and Korea. Finally, her other passion was her garden. It was a source of joy she shared with her husband right up until her final days. They pondered daily the teachings of Gail Lankin and Lois Hole. She lived her life to the fullest and left this world with no regrets. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 16th at 2:00 PM at the Edmonton Korean United Church, 9624 - 74th Ave. in Edmonton.
