<div itemprop="description"> <p> Mavis Elizabeth Neil, 89, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, passed away on&nbsp;December 16, 2012. </p> <p> The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at&nbsp;12:00 pm at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, Edmonton, Alberta, with visitation at 11:00 am. Reverend Trevor Neil&nbsp;of&nbsp;Tabernacle of Praise Church will be officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow the funeral at&nbsp;Howard &amp; McBride Westlawn Funeral Home, Edmonton, Alberta&nbsp;at&nbsp;3:00 pm. </p> <p> Mavis&nbsp;was born in&nbsp;Winterspen, St. Catherine, Jamaica on&nbsp;May 24th, 1923. She was married to&nbsp;Elmar&nbsp;Neil on&nbsp;December 26th, 1943; they were happily married 49 years. </p> <p> Mavis worked tirelessly as a&nbsp;home maker&nbsp;for&nbsp;her family from Jamaica, England and Canada, and assisted her husband in ministry beginning in United Kingdom where Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic (Birmingham) started in their home.&nbsp; After moving to Canada she continued alongside her husband who was Pastor of Shiloh Tabernacle in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada from 1974 to 1992.&nbsp; Mavis also enjoyed&nbsp;pottery, sewing, and cooking. </p> <p> Mavis&nbsp;is survived by her eight children: Norma Barnett, Cynthia Stetson, Trevor Neil, Dermoth Neil, Marilyn McGreer, David Neil, Janet Neil and Sharon Laumen; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and many close family and friends. </p> <p> Mavis is preceded in death by&nbsp;her husband, Elmar Samuel Neil who passed away in 1992 and her grandson, Richard Barnett who passed away in 1972. </p> <p> In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to&nbsp;Janet Neil at 1433 Parkland Dr., Stony Plain, AB, T7Z 1X4. The family of&nbsp;Mavis Elizabeth Neil wishes to thank&nbsp;Noel Johnson for his significant contribution. </p> </div>
