Melvin Headrick
November 15, 1934 - March 20, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Melvin “Gido” Headrick announces his passing on March 20, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 82.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Terry (Sandra), Cindy Cook (Randy) and Jeff (Karen). He also leaves his grandchildren; Derek, Tamara (Dan), Dustin, Aleisha, Kyle and McKayla, great- grandchildren; Taylor, Max, Chloe, Cash, and Adrian and his sister Vivian (Alvin), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Melvin was predeceased by Verla, his loving wife of 58 years,, his parents and his siblings; Emma, Evelyn, Annie, Ken and Ron. Melvin was born in Saskatchewan to Gleason and Katherine Headrick. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a dedicated employee, working as a warehouseman at Van Waters and Rogers (Univar) for over 40 years. He will be remembered for his love of family. He attended many plays, dance recitals and sports events over the years and always took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He loved socializing with friends and family. Country music was dear to his heart.
A celebration of Melvin’s life will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton.
