WOLTER, Katherine Frances

1947 - 2013

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Katherine Wolter (nee Ryhorchuk), on October 10, 2013 after a long a difficult battle with lung cancer at the age of 66 years. Known for her huge heart, her ready smile and loving nature, she touched the hearts of all who knew her. Beloved wife of Glen for almost 49 years, they had a large family of 5 children, Tracey (married to Michael Neil), Katherine (partners with Ken Clark ), Glen (married to Suzanne), Richard (married to Catherine) and Todd (partners with Amy Davids), numerous grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and their spouses, Ron and Claire, Larry and Cindy, and Al and Denise and their many children and predeceased by her parents, Paul and Doris Ryhorchuk.

Katherine had many interests in life but none so great as her family and friends, getting great enjoyment with spending quality time with them and doing things such as camping, playing cards, dinners, or simply being in the thick of things. She also loved to travel and spent her winters with Glen in Mexico, where a tight knit group of friends formed an extended family that she loved spending time with. Her "babies" were her two adored cats, Peaches and Peanut who were constant companions to her, including going with them on all their travels.

Memorial services will be held on October 19th, 2013 at 10:00 am at Westlawn Funeral Chapel located at 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton followed by a reception with family. Katherine did not want a formal ceremony, preferring instead a celebration of her life and as such, friends and family will have opportunity to speak of their fondest memories of this wonderful woman. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations made in Katherine's honor to the Canadian Cancer Society.
