STASIUK, John
January 17, 1929 - February 4, 2014
It is with great sadness that the family of John Stasiuk announce his passing on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the Stony Plain Care Centre at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Olga on December 6, 2011. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by his children, Cindy (Murray Miller), Doug (Barb) and Yvonne Beattie; his grandchildren, Jan-Micheal Stasiuk, Alyssa Stasiuk, Mark Miller, Reesa Beattie and Andrew Beattie. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers Pauline Erdman, Sam Stasiuk, Anne Palylyk, Mary Parker, and Steve Stasiuk. A special thanks to his nursing home family who treated him with such kindness, care and dignity during the last two years of his life.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman who spent many hours playing cards around the kitchen table with family and friends. John started his career as a Station Agent with the CNR, and switched to local government in 1963. He retired in 1986 as the first City Manager for the City of Spruce Grove.
At John’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Good Samaritan Society c/o Stony Plain Care Centre, 4800 – 55 Avenue, Stony Plain, AB, T7Z 1P9.
