<div itemprop="description">Elmer was born October 6,1928 at Ankerton, AB, the second oldest of <br /> <br /> five children born to Maurice and Annie Hihn.In 1934, a family farm <br /> <br /> was established in the Spring Lake District.He attended Grove School, <br /> <br /> then transferred to St. Leo School. After finishing Grade 9, he was needed to <br /> <br /> help on the farm;and he remained there, gradually taking over the farm <br /> <br /> from his father.In 1974, he sold the farm and moved to Edmonton. <br /> <br /> He became a custodian of the newly built Good Shepherd Parish where he also <br /> <br /> served as an an acolyte and usher for Sunday and daily Masses. He joined the <br /> <br /> Knights of Columbus in 1969, and faithfully served in a number of positions <br /> <br /> for many years.He volunteered ; assisting residents at Lynnwood <br /> <br /> Nursing Home to attend Mass on Saturday, working countless bingos and casinos were <br /> <br /> just some of the ways he spent his time. <br /> <br /> In May of 2010, he moved to St Andrews Centre, where he enjoyed the company of his peers, especially <br /> <br /> Saturday night bingo.He was an active member of the Legion of Mary until his death. <br /> <br /> He enjoyed travelling; cruising to Alaska and the Panama Canal,trips to visit family in Ontario, <br /> <br /> and especially his trip to the World Eucharist Congress in Dublin Ireland. <br /> <br /> Elmer was a gentle, kind , generous man. He will be truly missed by his friends and many others <br /> <br /> whose lives he touched, but most especially by his family: sisters ; Leona(Ted) Worth, and <br /> <br /> Mathilda(Mike) Deck, brother Joseph(Amelia) Hihn; and his nieces and nephews.</div>
