It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Anne Jacknisky, who passed away on Sunday, August 11 at the age of 94. Anne died as she had lived, with courage and dignity. Anne was a life-long Edmontonian, whose father arrived in the spring of 1899 from the Ukraine and settled near Whitford, Alberta. Anne was born on July 18, 1919 in Gold Creek, Alberta. She graduated from Victoria High School and completed her Normal School training and taught at country schools in Alberta until her marriage to Russell in 1940. Anne's memory will be cherished by her immediate family and all those who knew her. Anne is survived by her children Judy (Zan) Figol, Donna (Brian) Bindon and Ken (Judy) Jacknisky; sister, Nellie McEachern. She was adored by her grandchildren, Cathy (John Capitano), Caroline, Russell (Jessica) and her great-grandchild, Bram; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Russell in January 1970; sisters, Helen, Mary and Olga; her brother, Bill and his wife Ann; and granddaughter, Lisa Deibert and grandson, Trenton Jacknisky; brothers-in-law, Joe, Ivan, Bob and Burt. The family wishes to thank Dr. A. Parrish and the nurses and staff of Allen Gray ContinuingCare Centre - Pine Street staff for the loving care and support of our mother. A heartfelt thank you to Farida Mohammed, mom's companion who brought love and joy into her life at the Allen Gray over the past three years. We would also like to acknowledge all the friends and relatives who came so regularly to brighten her days. Anne continued to amaze doctors and prove her strength right until the end. Though having a reserved exterior, she was a thoughtful, generous and loving woman who was full of life and never put herself first. She never lost her ability to smile at life, even at
the end. A Celebration of Anne's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Howard & McBride Westlawn Funeral Chapel,
16310 Stony Plain Road. Memorial donations in Anne's honour may be
made to the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre, 5005 - 28 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6L 7G1.
